Kellye Hales

Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Lead Teacher

In 25 years of teaching multi-grade levels, I have seen firsthand how traditional systems can sometimes limit the potential of students who don’t fit into a one-size-fits-all model. As a mother of four and an educator with a degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Pembroke—along with a minor in Biology and a middle school math certification—I have spent my life investing in the academic and personal growth of children from all walks of life.

The vision for DREAMWORKS Christian Academy is to create a Christ-centered environment where every child is seen, heard, and valued. We believe that each student is uniquely created by God, with distinct learning styles, talents, and callings. That’s why we embrace a flexible and personalized approach to education. Here, children have the freedom to learn at their own pace and in the way that works best for them—whether that means moving ahead when they’re ready or taking the time they need to fully grasp a concept.

But more than just academics, our deepest desire is to instill a lifelong love for Jesus Christ in the hearts of our students. Through daily discipleship, Bible study, and a culture rooted in grace, prayer, and purpose, we aim to plant seeds of faith that will grow far beyond the classroom. We are not just preparing children for tests—we are preparing them for life, for leadership, and for eternity.

DREAMWORKS Christian Academy is a place where education meets purpose. Our students are taught to pursue excellence, to show compassion, and to shine their light in a world that needs hope. We are raising future leaders who are strong in mind, steady in spirit, and bold in their faith.

This is not just a school. This is a calling. And it is my great honor to walk this journey with each child and family that becomes part of the DREAMWORKS Christian Academy family.

Valerie Norris

Teacher Lower Elementary

I recently began my first-year teaching as a second-grade teacher with Sampson County Schools; I have four and a half years of hands-on classroom experience that will help me be a successful educator. Before earning my degree in Elementary Education from Liberty University in October 2024, I worked as an Instructional Assistant for four years with a veteran kindergarten teacher. I spent my time supporting my teacher, other teachers and the students. This experience gave me a firm foundation in understanding how to manage a classroom, build positive relationships, and support a wide range of diverse learners. Since stepping into a lead teaching role, I feel confident and ready to grow further in this profession.

Kayla Tatum

Teacher Assistant

Hi, I’m Kayla! I’m married to my wonderful husband, TJ, and together we have three amazing kids. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. After working in my parents’ business until they retired, I became a stay-at-home mom—a role I’ve treasured.

Now, I’m stepping into a new and exciting chapter as a teacher assistant, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ve always had a heart for children and a deep love for Jesus. That passion began early—after completing the Red Cross babysitting course in middle school, I spent my summers babysitting, helping in children’s church, working in the nursery, and coaching rec ball teams during high school and college.

In my spare time, I love being outdoors, spending time with my family, and staying actively involved in my church community. I’m especially passionate about Christ-centered education and am excited to see what this new journey and school year will hold!

Lindsay Lee

Assistant Director Head of School

I am very excited and blessed to be part of DreamWorks Christian Academy. As a mom of two and an educator, I am thrilled to serve as the Assistant Director to help lead our school as we strive to educate the next generation, lead them to Jesus, and help to train them in the way they should go so when they are old they will not depart from it.

I graduated from Campbell University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Master of Education in Mathematics Education. I then attended Liberty University and earned my Doctor of Education degree in Educational Leadership. I have taught mathematics to middle school, high school and college students for 18 years. I love working with students and seeing the moments when a concept clicks or a student finds success after working diligently to learn content.

At DreamWorks Christian Academy, we believe that everyone is made in the image of God and is fearfully and wonderfully made. We know that each child has a unique way of learning and are able to provide an environment that allows a child to learn in the way that is best for the student.
