Kellye Hales
Director of Curriculum and Instruction
6/7th-Homeroom & Math Teacher; 6th-12th ELA; Intervention Teacher
In 25 years of teaching multi-grade levels, I have seen firsthand how traditional systems can sometimes limit the potential of students who don’t fit into a one-size-fits-all model. As a mother of four and an educator with a degree in Elementary Education from UNC-Pembroke—along with a minor in Biology and a middle school math certification—I have spent my life investing in the academic and personal growth of children from all walks of life.
The vision for DREAMWORKS Christian Academy is to create a Christ-centered environment where every child is seen, heard, and valued. We believe that each student is uniquely created by God, with distinct learning styles, talents, and callings. That’s why we embrace a flexible and personalized approach to education. Here, children have the freedom to learn at their own pace and in the way that works best for them—whether that means moving ahead when they’re ready or taking the time they need to fully grasp a concept.
But more than just academics, our deepest desire is to instill a lifelong love for Jesus Christ in the hearts of our students. Through daily discipleship, Bible study, and a culture rooted in grace, prayer, and purpose, we aim to plant seeds of faith that will grow far beyond the classroom. We are not just preparing children for tests—we are preparing them for life, for leadership, and for eternity.
DREAMWORKS Christian Academy is a place where education meets purpose. Our students are taught to pursue excellence, to show compassion, and to shine their light in a world that needs hope. We are raising future leaders who are strong in mind, steady in spirit, and bold in their faith.
This is not just a school. This is a calling. And it is my great honor to walk this journey with each child and family that becomes part of the DREAMWORKS Christian Academy family.

Emily Brisson
7th-12th Homeroom, Math & Bible Teacher
My name is Emily. I am married to my amazing husband, Colby, and we have a beautiful little girl, Emmy Rae. Born and raised in New Jersey, I can see how the Lord has always had His hand on my life. After receiving a softball scholarship to play in Florida, a teammate helped guide me to the Lord, and I was saved at 19 years old. I later earned a scholarship to play at UNCP, where I received my bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics in 2022.
In my three years of teaching in public schools, I worked with many students from diverse backgrounds. However, I never felt like I could fully step into the Lord’s calling for me. Joining Dreamworks Christian Academy is truly an answered prayer for my family and I, as it allows me to meet students exactly where they are, not only in their educational journey, but in their spiritual walk as well.

Peyton Dingess
3rd/4th Homeroom & K-4th Math Teacher
Hey! I'm Peyton. I'm 23, recently married to my wonderful husband, Tyler, and a proud dog mom! I've grown up in Bladen County and have spent my life rooted in faith, family, and service. From a young age, church has been my second home—where I now serve faithfully on the praise and worship team and pour into the next generation through children's ministry on Sundays.
Education has always been a constant thread in my journey, both as a student and an advocate. I believe deeply in the power of learning and have committed my life to helping others grow, discover their purpose, and become all that God has created them to be.
Alongside my work in ministry and education, I am a dedicated cosmetologist and makeup artist. I view beauty as more than skin deep—it's a powerful tool I use to minister to others, uplift self-esteem, and remind every person that they are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Whether in the classroom, behind a makeup chair, or in the church sanctuary, my heart is simply to serve, to encourage, and to be a light wherever God leads me.

Jason Hales
Security
My name is Jason Hales, and I am a proud native of Bladen County, North Carolina. Some of my favorite memories growing up were spending time with my family at the beach, fishing along the coast, and hunting in the outdoors. Those experiences taught me the value of family, hard work, and appreciating God’s creation.
As a young adult, I dedicated much of my life to providing for my family. I raised my son, Dustin, as a single father and spent 16 years working for Autry Grading in the construction industry, followed by 8 years working at Fort Bragg in the school system’s maintenance department. Through those years, I learned the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and doing every task with integrity.
Although I grew up in church, there was a season in my life when I drifted far from the Lord. I knew about God, but I was not truly walking with Him. Looking back now, I can see that even when I was distant, God was still pursuing me and preparing my heart for something greater.
Everything began to change when I met Kellye. Little did I know that she would one day become my wife and play a significant role in my spiritual journey. Kellye reintroduced me to church and helped me understand what it truly means to be loved by God. Through her faith, encouragement, and example, I began to develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Today, I am grateful for the opportunities God has placed before me through our church family and Dreamworks Christian Academy. What once would have pushed me far outside my comfort zone has become one of my greatest blessings. Every day, I have the privilege of meeting new people, building relationships, and connecting with everyone from our day school students, academy students, parents, staff members, and adults within the church community. Through these interactions, God continually reminds me that every person has value and a purpose, and I am thankful for the opportunity to encourage and serve others each day.

Kayla Tatum
Office Assistant
Hi, I’m Kayla! I’m married to my wonderful husband, TJ, and together we have three amazing kids. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. After working in my parents’ business until they retired, I became a stay-at-home mom—a role I’ve treasured.
Now, I’m stepping into a new and exciting chapter as a teacher assistant, and I couldn’t be more thrilled. I’ve always had a heart for children and a deep love for Jesus. That passion began early—after completing the Red Cross babysitting course in middle school, I spent my summers babysitting, helping in children’s church, working in the nursery, and coaching rec ball teams during high school and college.
In my spare time, I love being outdoors, spending time with my family, and staying actively involved in my church community. I’m especially passionate about Christ-centered education and am excited to see what this new journey and school year will hold!
